FLV player for Mac OSX 10.x

After testing several free FLV players for Mac, I bumped into Wimpy FLV player, which worked without any problems. I tried several others and every time there was one or other issue that made me throw them out, but this one is going to stay because it does a good job. You need a player like this if you export your videos to FLV, because most video editors do not provide a way to replay Flash video movies.

Wimpy FLV player is a creation of SoThink Media Software. They have all sorts of useful utilities you might be interested in. Installing the app is dead simple: download the zip, expand it and drag the application over the Applications folder.
Playing an FLV can be done in 2 ways, either by opening the Finder from within the Wimpy player (click on the Folder icon) and select the flv you want, or just drag and drop an flv over the application when it is open.

OK, here is the link for download: http://www.sothinkmedia.com/flv-player-mac/.
Enjoy a trouble free experience :-)

Hey, and if you like the player, don’t forget to go to http://www.sothinkmedia.com/phpBB2/index.php and give them a big thank you in their forum.. Free software developers can use some encouragement once in a while, and you will feel better too.

I will definitely check this one out! I’m wondering if this one is better than the VLC player? I guess we’ll have to see. 2becont.

    Thanks.

I tested VLC player before I found Wimpy FLV player and it didn’t play all of my flv’s. Some of them are made with Adobe AfterEffects, others came from my pc, made with Camtasia. Don’t know why, but Wimpy plays them all without problems.

Please let us know what your experience is, if you don’t mind.

Wimpy doesn’t work on my Macbook Pro. All other players do, this one greys out any flv file you want to select – totally sucks, no pref edits, no manual, junk it.

Hi Paul, thanks for the info. If it doesn’t work, you can’t use it, that is for sure.
I don’t think there is not really a need for a manual, it is a very simple application.

Have you found a player that works on your Mac Pro?
