There are many talented movie makers who will not get into Hollywood or Bollywood, often because their movies are not mainstream enough or they do not want to follow the typical paths outlined by big film studios. Thanks to the internet and social media, indie movie makers can find sponsoring for their projects via the general public without the middle men. In this way they can do more with less.
In this article I would like to present a project that is worthwhile to sponsor, namely Shooting stars from Rhett Lynch Studio / Heap Big Films. Shooting Stars is the story of a young Native man who reconnects with his heritage in the most unlikely place, a junkyard.
Below you find the trailer of the project and an outline why and how you can sponsor. I picked this project as an example because the concept moved me.
At the same time, I think Rhett Lynch did a good job promoting his project and making it easy to sponsor directly from within his website. As a sponsor you become directly involved in the birth of a movie and bigger sponsors even get a return on their investment.
If you are a movie maker yourself, you might find it interesting to study this case on how to sponsor your next project. Rhett put his plea up on several social media, where under LinkedIn, where I found him. I leave the word to Rhett himself now, first the trailer then an introduction to the modalities of the project:

Rhett’s Story:
Hello! I am Rhett Lynch. I am grateful and excited to introduce you to the short film, “Shooting Stars.” Shooting Stars is the story of a young Native man who reconnects with his heritage in the most unlikely place, a junkyard. I wrote this piece shortly after my mother died of ALS, reflecting on my life’s experiences. I can’t wait to bring this film to life for you!
Shooting Stars is the third project I will have the honor of working with my Emmy award winning mentor, Thom Eberhardt. Thom directed Naked Fear, Captain Ron, and Gross Anatomy among many other films. I first worked with Thom on Naked Fear, playing the role of Jack, a nightclub owner. Naked Fear can be seen on Showtime. He mentored me while I wrote Edgar’s Journey for InterTribal Entertainment. I am deeply grateful Thom has agreed to share his expertise and mentor-ship with us on the making of Shooting Stars. We are still speaking with a two time Grammy award winner, who will write the score and star in Shooting Stars. Not only is he a gifted musician, he is also a talented actor recently appearing in a made for television movie. We can’t print his name just yet because we don’t have a deal, we can’t make a deal without you jumping into the project by donating today!
The Shooting Stars DVD is more than a short film; it is a whole package.
- The short film “Shooting Stars”
- The documentary “The Making of Shooting Stars”
- The original soundtrack performed by (Can’t say his name just yet!)
- The music video of (??????) and his band!
You must get involved for all four of these events to be included on the disk!
Shooting Stars will be filmed in New Mexico in October.
The Impact
Our mission goes much further than to entertain and tell a story. The Shooting Stars goal is to inspire each of us to embrace our differences and in doing so recognizing we are all the same. Shooting Stars will be made available for teachers to use as a tool for film making and promoting compassion in recognizing racial differences and similarities. In the spirit of community, we are looking to engage promising film students, giving them a hands on film making experience. In short, this is a film for everyone. We cannot tell this beautiful and funny story without you joining us on this adventure!
